Content marketing: Adobe spoils the developer party

July 22, 2010

The launch of the iPad must have had thousands of coders, developers, interactive designers and digital content strategists wringing their hands with glee at the prospect of all those hefty app creation fees that were on the horizon. Unfortunately, Adobe has taken the wind out of their sails (not to mention their sales) with the addition of an iPad app function to its Indesign (Creative Suite 5) software.

Nobody knows for sure how turnkey this solution will be, whether it will be an all-singing, all dancingapp creation tool  or merely a small step up from the page-flipping PDF technology that is now commonplace online.

One thing is for certain, though. It certainly reduces the finanical barriers to entry into the potentially lucrative app market for small-to-medium sized publishers who may have been put off by the prospect of having to pay a tech team tens of thousands of dollars to turn their print magazines into digital content experiences.
